At 5:30 p.m. this evening in New York City, HTC and Sprint jointly announced the brand new HTC EVO 4G LTE, which Sprint CEO Danne Hesse called the new "gold standard" for a rich multimedia experience. Just as the original EVO 4G was the America's first 4G phone, and the EVO 3D was the first glasses-free 3D-capable phone, the new EVO will also have several firsts:
•According to Hesse, it will be the first phone to take full advantage of all of Sprint's Network Vision enhancements, which includes the 4G LTE rollout that is still on track to be completed by the end of 2013.
•It will also be the first HD voice capable phone, which will allow for crystal clear phone conversations between other HD voice capable devices.

Sprint made clear at today's event that it is committed to bringing HD voice to all of its customers across the country. HD voice is a combination of dual-mics, encoders, decoders, and Network Vision technology that will provide for less muffled calls and crystal-clear voice quality. The dual mics will also help regular calls be clearer with less background noise, even if you're not using HD voice.

Additionally, the red band on the back of the phone that we saw earlier today is in fact HTC's new signature, and is what differentiates this phone as an EVO as opposed to the rest of HTC's One lineup. The new EVO 4G LTE will be glossy on top and have soft-touch feel below.

Furthermore, several other rumors were confirmed at today's press event:
•The kickstand is indeed coming back, and will be integrated into the red band on the back of the phone. It is spring-loaded this time, meaning the EVO can be propped up on either side.
    •There will be a micro-SD slot.
•Beats Audio will be integrated across the entire EVO experience.
•The included battery will offer 2,000mAh.
    •NFC capability is included.
•The camera will include HTC's new ImageSense technology, which allows for better photos in low light conditions, an automatically adjusting flash depending on your conditions, the ability to take up to 90 continuous shots at 4 frames per second - in other words, they want to make this the "only camera you'll ever need."
•Other commonly-cited specs and features were also confirmed: 4.7-inch HD screen, dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 8MP camera, Sense 4.0, and HTC Media Link compatibility.

HTC and Sprint promise the latest EVO to be "faster, cleaner, and more intuitive than ever before" with a particular focus on an "amazing camera and an awesome sound experience." It will be available sometime in the second quarter for $199.99 with a new two-year contract. Presales will begin on May 7.

With Sprint: I think it was the network more than the phone(no clue tho)
With VZW: After having the cell for about 2 weeks, it would go in sleep mode, so the ph would still be on but the screen would be black.. I got my replacement about a week ago, so no issues so far...

Droid X is made by Motorola..

Yeah, with a 2 year agreement. Most people aren't switching carriers, only phones. They won't be able to take advantage of the 199 cost
