Yup. Macs are superior in every way possible to PCs. Dells, VooDoos,, AlienWare, HP(lol). Pick any OS and any CPU combo, and Mac will destroy it.

*Spyware? Doesnt Exist On Mac
*Viruses? Not in 10 years
*Trojans? Not one In Sight
*Mac OS X? The sleekest looking, most advanced, most secure OS, EVER.

Go ahead, take your cheap shots, dumb crackers. Be mad cause you run adaware every 2 days and have a RAM hogging Anti-Virus "protecting" your crappy XP OS.

It's true, it's within his power to do whatever he wants. :unno

And yeah, I was on a Mac, and even though I hate the fact that it's the hardest shit to use next to Unix... very un-user-friendly. But it IS sexy looking... I'd hit, if it was female, and a human. :nf:

its very user friendly, and Unix based. its just different from XP, so may be harder for you to use. In fact, its much more user friendly than windows, from different search features to speech-to-text options, its superior in every way, except for installed base

I had an iBook back in High School, it was pretty good, and it was just a lower model the school gave us. Still, when I bought my new computer I didn't go with Mac, mostly because of the price, but also because I didn't feel like making the switch after having a PC for so many years. It's true you have the problem of trojans, viruses, & spywear with Windows, but it really isn't that much of a hassle to protect yourself :unno Just a firewall, good antivirus program, and a spywear sweeper.

i did a compare and contrast essay on mac's and windows based pc's .. basically the only negative to mac's are the price if your working on a tight budget

you can simulate windows on a mac a la virtual pc 7
so if you scared to make the cross platform jump, u can ease your way into it by playing around with OS x until you got it down packed and also have the ability to be productive using windows.

it's all goes down to your personality and price range

Its not even that its a hassle, its the fact that we shouldnt have have these resource hogs running in the background to protect us from something that should have been taken care of before the OS's release. People have had hard drives wiped out from malware and viruses(happened to me when i was a n3wb).

So, why aren't there these viruses, spyware, torjans, and shit for Macs? They're just better protected from the jump?

Well, the price was the main reason I didn't really look into a Mac. If the prices go down before I need to buy another new computer, I'd definitely consider it.

there is always a possiblity for it to happen because nothing is impossible. but there just isn't an architectural sound way to for a hacker or a company to run a malicious program without you noticing it. shit, there hasn't even been 1 that i've ran into by accidently downloading something or anything of that nature.

it's just that damn good.

and price is it's true glass jaw, but if you want superior hardware - you have to pay for it. that's the only catch

I think I might wanna get one of them lil mini Macs ... right now I mainly use linux. I'm running a dual-boot, with Windows XP on there for my mom and brother.

I can pretty much do everything from here. There's even a program so I can manage songs on my iPod. And Linux is free.

I recommend the Mac Mini for everyone. Its the best choice for a second computer in the house, the best choice for a server on the network, anything. And it takes up 0 space, its a little smaller than a car cd player

Macs are nice, but you are still leaving out one very important thing: games. Until they make a wide variety of games for the macs, they are useless to a lot of people. Like Scribe said, it ain't that hard to protect yourself. Try a few things and different combos, then make sure it's always on. Easy enough. I haven't had a problem with my vomputer in almost two years, and that was my fault for not having Norton updated and viewing many porn sites. All in all, for the price, I'll still take the pc. One day I will change over to either Linux or Mac, but that day will not be for a few more years.

Lastly, if you are working with graphics, it's a no brainer. Mac all the way. Eventually I'd like to have my own newspaper/newsletter. QuarkXpress for Mac >>> QuarkXpress for pc.

Hey, if you cant comment on the topic, stay out of it :mumble:.

And to respond to johnblazin, there are alot more people that dont play games on computers that do. The average person uses a computer for web browsing, e-mailing, word processing, and digital music, making the gamer the minority. And for all of these purposes, Macs are better. Better software for music playback, movie editing, safer web browsing.

^ Yeah. Mac's can use AppleTalk between themselves, but are also capable of using TCP/IP between PC's and themselves. It's not a problem :tu

At least my PC won't randomly SHUT DOWN programs that i'm in the middle of using and then lose my work..

Johnblazin...Adobe Indesign? I really like that program...and Quark's lack of care for their customers doesnt appeal to me and I like the intercommunications available with the Adobe suite. Why are Macs so much better for graphics work? I've never seen the difference and my major was all about Macs and graphics...refresh my memory, perhaps i've forgotten

Plus I can upgrade and understand what I'm doing with PCs...Macs you are more chained to having Mac upgrade for you...or if you have an Imac...forget it. You can't ever upgrade really.

Also be prepared, people are starting to write malware directed at Macs. See me in a couple years when you're in the same place as PCs are right now as far as Malware.

PC >> Mac imo. I would buy one as a secondary computer though...

This is real talk right here. I haven't used that Adobe suite yet, but when I worked at the SLO Tribune, the San Luis Gazette and the Mustang Daily (as well as interviews at other newspapers), they ALL use Quark on a Mac. I have Quark on my pc at home and it's not quite as functional, but after awhile, it's close.

BTW, I'm sure your classes are right across from Mustang Daily, you have any idea who the managing editor is right now?
