Area Codes, what's up with you on this blood & gore? Yet you love the Mortal Kombat franchise. Avengers is PG-13, it doesnt get more gory than that.

On another note. What Avenger or Avengers is most likely to make a debut in the sequal. I have a feeling it's going to be Black Panther & Hank Pym aka Ant-Man aka Giant-Man. They already made reference to the Black Panther in one of the Iron-Man movies. So who knows...

2D mk is different than these newer games and movies. 2d mk blood looks fake and we know it's digitized and it's actors. every can tell mortal komat and killer instinct games are fake and entertainment. 3d realistic horror, alien, monster, and gangster games and movies are different. they even scare and frighten grown men. ever since people was playing those horror and rated m games and watching rated r blood and gore films at job corps i have been scared for life. i guess it's my phobia! i am a mentally unstable individual so that type of stuff is not as easy for me to get over as other people!

Disney’s ‘Avengers’ Sets 2nd-Weekend Record With $103 Million

    By Michael White - May 13, 2012 10:12 AM CTSun May 13 15:12:54 GMT 2012

“Marvel’s The Avengers,” broke another box-office record, taking in $103.2 million for Walt Disney Co. (DIS) in its second weekend in U.S. and Canadian theaters.
The film surpassed the $76.6 million benchmark for a second weekend in 2009 by “Avatar,” researcher Hollywood.com Box-Office said today in an e-mailed statement. Last week “The Avengers” smashed the opening-weekend record with $207.4 million in domestic receipts. The vampire comedy “Dark Shadows,” starring Johnny Depp and directed by Tim Burton, opened in second place with $28.8 million.
The records raise the prospect studios will top their previous best yearly sales of $10.6 billion set in 2009, Paul Dergarabedian, president of Hollywood.com Box-Office, said in an interview. Sales and attendance for 2012 are both up over 2011, according to Hollywood.com. Opening May 25 is Sony Corp. (6758)’s “Men in Black 3,” forecast by Boxoffice.com to generate $205 million in domestic sales.
Disney Chief Executive Officer Robert Iger told investors on a conference call last week the company will turn “The Avengers” into a franchise. The studio also will continue to draw individually from the characters for more films, he said. Disney is developing a third “Iron Man” movie and a sequel to“Thor,” the hammer-wielding Norse demigod also featured in“The Avengers.”
In “The Avengers,” several Marvel heroes band together to fight an army of aliens led by Loki, also a character from Norse mythology. The movie stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow.
“Dark Shadows,” from Time Warner Inc. (TWX)’s Warner Bros., is inspired by the daytime television show about a New England family entangled with vampires, ghosts and werewolves. Burton’s tongue-in-cheek interpretation also features Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter and Eva Green.
“Dark Shadows” was the only film to open in wide release.

The Walt Disney Company : "Marvel's The Avengers" to Cross $1 Billion Globally in 19 Days

    05/13/2012 | 11:55amSuper Hero team-up tallies an estimated $373.2 million domestic, $628.9 million international

Marvel's The Avengers is expected to cross the $1 billion threshold at the global box office on May 13, its 19th day in release, The Walt Disney Studios has announced. This is the first Marvel Studios film and the fifth Walt Disney Studios release to reach this important milestone.
The news comes just a week after Marvel's The Avengers shattered records with a $207.4 million opening weekend, the biggest domestic debut of all time. The film has now earned an estimated $373.2 million at the domestic box office and $628.9 million internationally. As one of only 12 films in history to gross $1 billion, it joins Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Alice in Wonderland, Disney?Pixar's Toy Story 3, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides on Disney's list of billion-dollar films.
"We're obviously thrilled with the global success of The Avengers," said Robert A. Iger, Disney's Chairman and CEO. "It's a fantastic movie and an extraordinary franchise that will continue with more great stories and compelling characters for years to come."
Marvel's The Avengers has set several domestic box office records including the industry's all-time second weekend record with an estimated $103.2 million, fastest film to reach $200 million (3 days), fastest to $300 million (in a record 9 days), and highest Saturday ($69.5 million) and Sunday ($57 million) totals. In addition, its opening day of $80.8 million is the second-highest single-day gross of all time. Moviegoers gave Marvel's The Avengers a rare A+ CinemaScore.
Internationally, Marvel's The Avengers began opening April 25 and is the biggest opening weekend of all time in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Central America, Peru, Bolivia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, and United Arab Emirates. Marvel's The Avengers has now opened in all major markets except Japan (August 17).
On May 8, Disney announced that a sequel to Marvel's The Avengers was in development, following last month's announcement that a follow-up to 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger will be released April 4, 2014. A sequel to last summer's Thor is scheduled for release November 15, 2013, and the third installment of the hit Iron Man series, which has earned over $1.2 billion worldwide, will arrive in theaters May 3, 2013.
Marvel's The Avengers is the first Marvel Studios film to be marketed and distributed by The Walt Disney Studios.

I read an interesting article about why it'd be a WHILE before we see DC's version with "Justice League". I just tried to google it and didn't find the correct one I was looking for, but there are some interesting takes out there on the subject. Here is a recent one on why they SHOULD go ahead.

BTW- the other article mentioned that if you total the budgets for all the super hero movies Marvel made leading up to Avengers in recent years, they've invested a billion. That's one reason I am glad this movie is a monster success, hopefully it means the comic- based movies aren't going to be looked at as a trend- and will be here to stay on the big budget stage.

    Anyway:

Battleship Torpedoed by The Avengers' Third #1 Weekend

    by SuperHeroHype
    May 20, 2012

Movie is now the fourth-biggest of all time globally

ComingSoon.net has posted its weekend box office report which says that Marvel's The Avengers once again dominated with another $55.1 million domestically and $56 million internationally to bring its worldwide total to $1.180 billion. The film has reached $457.1 million domestically and $723.3 million overseas:
If you're sick of all of our box office reporting on the mega-blockbuster Marvel's The Avengers (Walt Disney Pictures) then you probably should stop going to see it so much, because it once again dominated the box office with another $55.1 million to take first place, defeating three new movies all which did disappointing business. The Avengers' domestic gross is estimated at $457.1 million after three weekends, putting it just behind Star Wars as the sixth-highest grossing movie of all time domestically.
Internationally, the film continues to keep pace with North America, as it added another $56 million in 54 territories to bring its international total to $723.3 million and its global cume to $1.180.4 billion, making it the fourth-highest release of all time behind only Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 ($1.328 billion), Titanic ($2.183 billion) and Avatar ($2.782 billion).

Just to go over some of the records The Avengers has broken over the past few weeks. It set a new opening weekend record with $207 million, also becoming the fastest movie to achieve that amount, took the second weekend record as well, before becoming the fastest movie to reach $400 million domestically. Right now, it looks like it also might become the fastest movie to $500 million as it becomes only the fourth movie in history to cross that mark in North America. It's also Walt Disney Pictures' most successful movie to date, surpassing Toy Story 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

I think that movie was going to flop regardless, but it's not a good time to release a movie.
