2 Pistols, the Tarpon Springs, FL native takes time to discuss his debut album “Death Before Dishonor” with WordofSouth.com. the album features production from the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and also features T-Pain, Trey Songz, Ray J, BloodRaw, and Slick Pulla.
1. Intro
I tried to do something that best re-enacted my best experience of what was going on to when I was going through my court process on the last day of sentencing. It really do read off all of my charges. The courtroom response when I was being sentenced and all. I did the best that I could on reenacting that feeling, so cats can get an idea of what they dealing with when they first put the cd of where I came from and to where I’m at now.
2. Death Before Dishonor
I took the record and we needed a title track or something that fit the title of the album. I just basically went on there and did what I wanted to do and explained from my standpoint what death before dishonor meant to me in a form of words on a track instead of saying it or answering it in a form of a question.
3. She Got It (FT. T-Pain & Tay Dizm)
I had the record for a very very long time and it’s actually two years ago. The record “She Got It” got me the attention and recognition that I needed. I got with T-Pain and add him on to the record because I felt like I needed someone to cosign and to look at me and it did exactly what I needed it to do. The song is not written for any particular female in mind, it’s for all females. It’s a self-esteem record for females. If I get the chicks, then the dudes gonna follow. Everything in generally in life that a dude do is really catered towards females. Whether it be a hot whip, the clothes you buy, or whatever you do, like whatever you do is basically based on what kind of female you trying to attract. Once you find that one female, you want to try and make them a wife. I figure that if I cater to the females then niggas gonna try and go get it because they want a chick to ride around and listen to it.
4. Been Throwin’ Money
It’s something that I always say and I used to say that shit all the time. The dude Chuck who manages the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League he came to me saying I need a record like that. Before my deal and all of that like a nigga would go to the club and throw money. That’s just some old ATL shit. I ain’t from Atlanta, but when I was on my come up and grind and all that trap shit along with Jeezy, BMF, and all of that, so I know about that situation. When I was coming up and getting money and making my transition to these streets id go to the club and throw money. Whenever I do my shows, I do it. I been throwing money before the deal, so it was something that I represent like “yo nigga I ain’t just start doing this shit, I been doing this shit before rap.”
5. Gettin’ Money Mane
That was just some inspirational shit on some hustling shit man. Me and some dudes in a donk doing some stuff that I’ve done to get my money up. My routes that I take on getting money. It was just a grindin’ track and something for a nigga to just ride to. Its hustler’s music like whenever you out grindin’ and want to hear some shit that inspires you to hustle and grind to get your money up. That what the song was for. It’s something that I’d say be from “Thug” that Jeezy was on throughout his whole album.
6. Let’s Ride
That’s just like some chill, laid back, ain’t worried about nothing, ain’t worried about a nigga trying to rob you, you got your good shoes on, or good shirt on, or you just might be in a tank top, some Dickies, and some flip flops. When you ridin’, you just chillin’, laid back like me with the top back and ridin’ through the hood. Like the nigga Will Smith” Summertime” song, this will put you in that mind state.
7. Flexx 2008
I think that’s really gonna be a crazy song for the summer. I picked that record because the sample I fuck with. It put me in a mind frame of coming up and just the good times. When I first heard the sampled hook that’s where my mind was at, but then when I listened to the meaning of the song and what dude was trying to capture with that shit, it was really on some sexual shit with a female. It’s basically relax, I got you, I’mma do me, and we gonna have a good time.
8. Eyes Closed
I had that record from when I first got with () before I did my production deal with them. They had that record with Jeezy on the hook already. I got the record and it was on some icy shit. That was the first record where I thought like fuck it I’mma just talk about what I do in the streets and clown on niggas.
10. You Know Me (FT. Ray J)
It’s a record, which features Ray J and he brought that shit to life. It was cool, I had a dude named Carlyle on it before Ray J and it was hot, but Ray J put that edge to it. The females that I fuck with, my girl, you know, you know me! You don’t know 2 Pistols and all that shit that everybody else is on, like you really really know me. You the person that I can come to and talk to about anything. You know off top I’m a go hustle, I’m a go get mine, and ain’t finna sit here and wait for a bitch to hand me nothing. If I’m out doing what I’m doing, don’t think I’m out doing you wrong so to speak. I’m out doing what I gotta do for her.
11. We Run It (FT. Slick Pulla & Blood Raw)
I fucked with Blood and Slick like before rap. Before my deal and all that, Blood was at my house and we just kickin’ it on some homeboy shit. I had records with Blood before my deal and all of that. So of course, I had to fuck with him and do some shit with him and Slick. I just felt like the niggas that’s in my raps and the ones that I come up with, I had to do something with them regardless. “We Run It” is some shit we normally do. Blood and Slick, they came from where I came from where I came from. We so much alike and I wanted to do some shit about us running the club and on our shit. If I want a feature on a nigga, I’m a holler at them niggas on some rap shit because I feel like we just alike.
13. That’s My Word (FT. Trey Songz)
It really wasn’t a record that was for me. It wasn’t that I was writing the record from my standpoint. I was going through a situation where my new chick was telling me to stop answering my ex chicks phone calls. She wanted me to cut the bitch off and end all ties because she was no good at all. As long as you hold on to the situation it’s gonna continue to be drama and you ain’t gonna be able to live life stress free if you continue to go back to that situation. I made it look like I was telling a female that the nigga don’t mean well, but realistically it came from the other end and I just wrote down shit as it was told to me from the other side.
14. Robbery
It was a record about some shit that I went through with a nigga in the streets. I got all stabbed up and shit. I’ll tell you the whole story. A nigga knocked on my door while I was on house arrest and I assumed that it was my probation officer sending somebody else over other than they self because I looked out the peephole and seen an older looking Spanish cat. The dude looked regularly dressed. I ain’t think nothing of it and I opened the shit and when I opened the door, I had my arm up on top the ledge of the door. The nigga was talking to me about my car and how someone was fuckin’ with my car. I leaned forwarded to look out the door and the nigga hit me with machete and cut all my shit open on my rib cage. Then another came through the side of the door with a pistol and shit, ran all up in my house and ran through my shit and tried to get whatever they wanted to get. There weren’t really shit for the niggas to get. They ain’t get shit, but a fuckin’ Gucci wallet and $200. I had a lot of money at the crib, which they didn’t get. Them niggas was some fake ass robbers and wasn’t no jack boys or whatever. I just had to do a record like that because it’s some shit that I been through. Everything that I’ve did on this album is shit that I been through or shit that I’m doing.
15. Lookin’ Down On Em’ (FT. BMU)
I got my clique on there, Blood Money Union. Niggas always hatin’ on my clique and shit. We ride around the city on 26’s and vogues and we really don’t see you niggas. The only way we see y’all niggas is if we roll the window and look down at you niggas. That’s how we feel and the only way we see haters is if we look down and y’all niggas got to look up to see us.
16. Candy Coated Diamonds (FT. Tyra B)
That was on some stuntin’ shit. I got the record from this nigga named “D.A.” He sent the hook over and Fergie was on the hook and it ain’t work out right, so I had Tyra B come back in and do the hook over. It’s really on some shining shit. Just me talking about multi colored ice and shit.
17. From The Bottom
I went in on that and I wanted to tell a nigga that all the shit that I been through, I remember that shit. That shit made me the person that I am today. From the bottom of the bottom, but I ain’t never going back to that shit though. I know where I came from, so for the ones that be like I changed and I’m different, I went in on there and let them know that I know where I came from and know what I did. Then some of the niggas that talk their shit about me really don’t know that the nigga you bought your work from bought their work from me. If I never sent your nigga to work then you wouldn’t of never had money or had way to get shit, but you over here hatin’ on the next nigga, so I went on in that shit. Just because I’m doing this shit, don’t get it twisted, I’m doing this shit because it’s better for me to do. I don’t wanna be on the corner with you niggas because you snitchin’ and whatever, but I know where I come from, the bottom of the bottom, and I’m never going back. I’m on some new shit, some totally different shit, fly shit. If you niggas wanna be in the same mode then stay there. I just recognize the trill niggas in this shit and the fake niggas at the same time.
2 Pistols on recording “Death Before Dishonor“
It was stressful going towards the end because I don’t feel like…well I don’t wanna say the recording process was stressful, but the headache part was that they expected me just to throw some shit together. I had like five or six of my records already done when I came to get my deal. I had “You Know Me” when I came to get my deal. I already had my follow-up and all my shit. The stressful part about it was this budget and how you wanna do this and how you wanna do that and clearing this and clearing that. I had this record called “Blinded By The Light” that was major and would have been crazy, but they wouldn’t clear it for some reason. To make a real good album and not have to stress about clearances and sampling, I think I can make a ridiculous and crazy album, but if I don’t get everything cleared, then the album can become shit. For the most part, I think it rounded out to a well-rounded album. I feel that the shit ain’t the best work because I didn’t get a lot of shit cleared that I wanted and that was due to samples. All that shit got leaked anyway, so if niggas wanna buy the CD and add the leaked the shit together, than cool. I feel that I did my best work, but it didn’t get packaged and come out the way that I wanted to.

“KEEP IT REAL”
2Pistols is still very weak in lyric’s…he has to prove that he can stand alone as a recording artist without the features, before he can conquer the ears of a real true fan base. Although he has semi-pro production on his side, his style and lyrics have been done before, nothing is new to taste, he brings nothing to the table to elevate the new era in all of hip hop’s artists of todays struggling market. I think this investment was a bad one for Universal/ Republic. Good Luck guys. Try again, Ring tone rappers are here today and gone tomorrow. No Hate I really anticipated this release…but the truth is the truth…and I purchased it…but can’t get my money back???
LISTEN, FUCK DAT FAKE ASS LIL NIGGA, ALOTTA PPL KNO THE TRUTH BOUT DIS NIGGA…DONT NOBODY LIKE THIS NIGGA…WHEN THE LAST TIME U WAS IN TARPON NIGGA…OL’ GARBAGE ASS RAPPIN ASS NIGGA…2 PISTOLS = TRASH
LAME ASS NIGGA
SEMI-PRO PRODUCTION???
J.U.S.T.I.C.E LEAGUE HAVE GRAMMIES AND THEY HAVE WORKED WITH THE BEST OF THEM (PRODUCERS AND ARTISTS).I THINK THEY ARE FAR FROM “SEMI-PRO”….
Hot album .. 2 Pistols is doing his thing!!!!!
Yes Semi-Pro Production…I know the game, I ain’t like everybody else that believes the hype, The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League didn’t win a grammy!!! A project they worked on for Mary J. Won a Grammy…So why take that title and run with it? they have to truly prove and pull GRAMMY “on their own” status before they can truly be that…I like the production but they are still in the background doing great filler songs. For instance they were supposed to shine off that Rick Ross “Maybach Music” but like the critics say Monumental track…the track thats really pushing that projects commercial success is the track called “Here I am” feat: Nelly & Avery Storm Produced by Drumma Boy, so that to me means Semi-Pro…
Man I be in that bay area from time to time, because I like Ybor City, Hollywood Nights, and that crab shack off Sligh Ave. I must say I had great anticipation based off the single but when I bootlegged the album a couple of weeks to go to see if I was gonna buy it….that shit was “HOT GARBAGE”. Beats were on point, hell even some of the hooks but the lyrics were as weak as a nigga trying to curl 100 pounds while he busting a nut.
FYI: TO ALL PEOPLE THAT RAP OR ARE TRYING TO RAP, JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE STREET CREDS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY TRANSLATE INTO YOU BEING A GOOD ARTIST. Credibility is cool, but lyrics are the foundation of your claim to even call yourself an artist. You call out every color diamond in the crayon box and it won’t impress me unless it put together in a true lyrical artistic form. The thing is if most of these motherfuckas had true friends, they would really let them know the truth before the shit even leave the studio.
At the end of the day, I can’t hate on no man putting bread on his table, but I’ll be damn if I can’t be honest. Damn I miss Pimp C! I miss them niggas that really loved the music and not just the hustle.
To anybody from that Bay Area, what ever happened to Tom G and Rated R? Tom G was lyrical as a motherfucker and I used to kill that Rated R album.
MAN THIS DUDE IS FAKE AS HELL….READ THE TRANSCRIPTS OF HIS CASE…HE DID GET SNITCHED ON BUT HE SOUND LIKE A ROOKIE DEALIN WITH THEM FEDS….HIS CLICK IS GARBAGE…DECA BE WALKING AROUND TOWN LOOKIN SHOOK LIKE SOMEBODY GONNA SNATCH THAT LITTLE CHAIN(U KNOW WHO I AM FUKA!)…WOULDVE TOOK THAT IF MY MAN DIDNT TELL ME HE FUCKED WIT P LIKE THAT….AND SKEE??..STRAIGHT TRASH…TOM G WILL MURDER U….ALL IN ALL CONGRATS ON THE RELEASE OF THE ALBUM BUT WE DONT NEED ANOTHER PLIES…
